Me & The Los Angeles Yacht Club, would be honored with your presence at ART WAVES, a fine art exhibition to be held on Saturday, June 10 from noon-6PM in the LAYC clubhouse located at 285 Whalers Walk San Pedro CA 90731. Feel free to bring a friend because everyone is welcome! BTW Angels Gate Bistro will be open for lunch!
Art Waves promises to buoy your spirits, with a focus on one of southern California’s favorite subjects, ocean life. The loosely themed show featuring abstract, conceptual, realism, sculptural works, photography and painting will be on display in the famous Trans-Pac room of the LA Yacht Clubhouse. This event will benefit the community sailing program that teaches people how to sail.
Featured artists include the following: Alejandro Alia, Jean Jacques Bastarache, Michele Boyer, Tianlu Chen, Bruce Cook, Beth Elliott, John Geary, Laurel Gerber, Rene Holovsky, Richard Kessler, Toti O’Brien, Stuart Rapeport, Gil Mares, Michael McCall, Sybil McMiller, Mike Saijo, Susan Staudt, Linda Stelling, Dan Van Clapp, Sandra Vista, Juan Carlos Zaldivar
The Los Angeles Yacht Club was established in 1901 by a group of avid sailors and has continuously been an active club of sailors, racing enthusiasts, and community supporters. One of the best aspects of the club is The LAYC community sailing program we teach kids, families and individuals of all ages how to sail. With our fleet of small sailboats, anyone can get out on the water.
Since 1906, LAYC has produced the biennial Transpacific Yacht Race (Transpac), which begins in San Pedro, Californiaand ends off Diamond Head in Honolulu, Hawaii, a distance of 2,225 nautical miles (2,560 mi; 4,121 km). Transpac will take place again this year.

Jason Hickey, come to us from Ireland. He is the Lead Environment Artist at Insomniacs Games. He will share with us tips on the new technology in gaming, and creating digital environments. Even, fine artists might find this interesting. See: http://www.insomniacgames.com
Patrick Paul McLynn brings a wide range of creative skills and experiences to our group. Lead fine artist at Lamps Plus for 35 years as well as worked at LA Talk Radio, worked at Walt Disney Imagineering and a survivor using his creative skills in other venues. He is an art ninja that is willing to share his secrets with you. Mr. McLynn will help us understand marketing and price points as well as other important items in a creative’s life.
This time around we will all pitch in for Pizza. But if you cannot afford it, no problem, just show up. We will be happy to have you join us. Cost $5.00 Feel free to use the Chip in tool here or just bring your 5 bucks. A couple of Vegan dishes will be available this time around, sorry about that Vegans from last time. BYOB mean bring your own drink of your choice, there will be various drinks available.
Bring your portfolio or samples of your work to this event. We will have a one on one discussion with you, after the panelists speak, to help you understand the L.A. art scenes. More information to come.
